Survival Raft

If you're planning to fly with the Cayman Caravan, you'll need survival gear, including a raft and personal flotation devices.  We're happy to provide rentals but we've made special arrangements with several manufacturers and can offer this equipment for sale at near wholesale prices.

During the many years we've been operating the Cayman Caravan, we've learned quite a bit about overwater flying, survival, and search and rescue.

What surprises us is how many pilots routinely fly over large expanses of water without survival gear of any kind.  Now we all know the chances of ditching are remote, but it can and does happen, which is why we require a raft for participation in the Caravan.

But if you fly along the Florida coast, to the Bahamas or even low-altitude dashes up the Hudson River corridor, wouldn't it be a good idea to have a life raft in the airplane all the time? (You can bet our Caravan aircraft do.)

Liferafts
Winslow® is the acknowledged leader in liferafts for marine and aviation.  By special arrangement, we're offering Winslow's four-man Rescue raft for only $1340, their six-man raft for $1480, and their eight-person raft for $1615.  If you'd like a less expensive raft, we also offer the Survival Products models, which are suitable for warm water operators only.  These sell for $985 in the four-man size and $1280 in the nine-man size.  We believe these are the lowest prices you'll find on rafts anywhere.  We can ship your raft to you or have it available in Key West when you arrive.

PFDs
It's a good idea to carry personal flotation devices in your airplane as standard equipment.  We're offering the Stearns quick-donning design which fits into a small pack attached to the waist, thus there's no need to remove it from a sealed pack and wear it in the airplane.  The Stearns PFD sells for $65.00, a terrific discount for Caravan pilots only.

Surival Kits
The flight guide we'll provide you offers tips on assembling a small survival kit, but we've put one together especially for Caravan operations.  It contains a whistle, an extra mirror, space blanket, chem-light, nylon line, a strobe light, medical kit and small packets of water, all of which fit into a fanny-pack that attaches to the waist, thus you'll have it with you if you have to exit the airplane.  The Caravan survival kit sells for $89.
